Hello, friends.
It has been six years since my last post on here. What have you been up to?
For myself, this has been a wild six years.
In short: I moved from my role in Woodbury and worked for the better part of two years at a large, program sized Presbyterian Church in Saint Paul.
Julia and I bought a house, and moved to Minneapolis.
I then found what has become my dream job, serving as Minister for Children & Youth for the Episcopal Church in Minnesota. I work with an amazing team of lovely, caring people, getting to do the work of designing systems to help empower people to follow the way of Jesus.
If you had told me when I started seminary in 2012 that I would one day serve on an Episcopal Bishop’s staff, in a lay role, as a CYF person, I wouldn’t have believed you!
But, it is quite the fit.
In the continued political stress from 2020, the world got (somewhat and mostly) better for about four years. There was a failed insurrection. People were murdered by protesters.
And, there have been increases in hateful rhetoric, war, and violence both here in the United States as well as abroad.
Julia and I have also begun to travel the world, visiting many countries since my last post.
We are supporting our families as our parents get older and begin to die.
And, I have decided to restart this little, hobby blog of mine to share thoughts, insights, and wondering from my little corner of NE Minneapolis.
To quote a friend of mine from Key West, “Take what you need, and leave the rest.”
If mid-form, written content isn’t for you right now, that is okay! And if you do wish to stay, I invite you to stay for a bit, grab a beverage (I suggest La Croix), and make yourself at home.
It is nice to get to share.
